July 2019

A monthly update from VBF Global Ambassador Scott Cupples on happenings within the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation’s Global Ambassador Program.

As you know, the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation has created a program for members of the birthmark community to step up in a variety of ways. From spreading awareness in their communities and disseminating information on social media, to holding charity and fundraising events – VBF Global Ambassadors go above and beyond to help families affected by vascular birthmarks.

Over the past month, we have increased the number of Ambassadors to 152, with 392 members in our Facebook group! We currently have Global Ambassadors in 22 countries and 41 states and are actively recruiting Ambassadors all over the world to promote awareness for vascular birthmarks.

Community Representatives Advisory Committee

VBF has a new board committee, and we are looking to fill vacancies with Global Ambassadors! During the month of July, I plan to reach out to members of our community that have been actively spreading awareness to garner interest in Community Representatives Advisory Committee. Responsibilities will be in line with our charge as Global Ambassadors, but a more active role with VBF. Contact me for details if you are interested.

What’s Happening at VBF?!

Month of awareness was amazing for VBF, and the Global Ambassadors were a huge reason why we had our most successful year to date! Now that Month of Awareness is over, the next major event on the calendar is our annual conference! This year’s conference will take place at the Beckman Laser Institute on October 12thin Irvine, California. If you are going to the conference, please let me know in advance so I can ensure that we meet! VBF is also holding a raffle to win a trip to Walt Disney World Resort! Details are on the website, but with a donation you are eligible to win! Also on the horizon is the 4thAnnual Purple Polka Dot Race hosted by VBF Board Member Jody Lee! If you do not live in the greater Detroit area, feel free to register online and run the race remotely. Also on the horizon on July 22ndwill be the 9thannual Frank Catalanotto Foundation Golf Classic! Proceeds will benefit the Vascular Birthmarks Foundation.

Do a Give2VBF Awareness Challenge!

This month, I personally challenge you to share your story with a Give2myVBF personal fundraising page. You can personalize a page with your story, and share your special link with your family and friends to ask them to support your annual awareness campaign all year long. I will be sending you each an individual email this month to discuss interest in conducting one of these events.

Funds generated from your page can help others receive help at a VBF conference, support research, help our VBF iTEAM, or go towards general support.

Free Birthmark Education for Global Ambassadors

The Vascular Birthmarks Foundation is constantly looking for ways to empower our Ambassadors, and grow the program to increase our outreach of support.

The VBF Educate Online Course modules is now available to registered Global Ambassadors – all you need to do is check your email, as I have sent the access code! The Physician E-Learning Center provides a platform for doctors all over the world to earn CME medical credits, and this module is now available to Global Ambassadors for free! Visit https://vbfeducate.org/ to sign up and learn more!

The VBF Library has been made available to Global Ambassadors for free as well, and we really would like for you to register! The VBF Library includes the latest scholarly articles in the field of vascular birthmarks for over 70 birthmark-related keywords.

In addition to the VBF Educate module and VBF Library, we have finished a training module for Global Ambassadors to complete upon registration. This training will not only give a baseline of information and resources about vascular birthmarks, but will also reiterate the Global Ambassador mission. The goal is to have this training module released soon. Remember, none of us are medical professionals, but we are champions of helping others get the information they need!

To our current Global Ambassadors – please monitor your email for links and codes to register for VBF Educate and the VBF Library. To everyone else – We look forward to helping you, and would love for you to register and help us spread awareness!

Thank you all, for all that you do for our community.
